Astrology and Self-Care: The Lunar Eclipse
Self care is important for so many reasons! Utilizing self-care can provide empowerment to oneself, as it can help us see the core beliefs that keep us from embodying our full potential. Astrology can be such a useful tool when delving into self-care: it can assist us in understanding who we are, and it can also provide insight into why we behave the way we do. A great way astrology can help in self-care is to learn one’s natal chart. This unique chart acts as a snapshot into the energies of the sky the moment we were born. The natal chart represents the cards we were dealt in this lifetime, so-to-speak. Acceptance of these "cards" can open up the door to empowerment, as we can then work with that energy to create the life we want to experience.
And it’s that time of year--Eclipse season! On May 26th, we experienced a full moon lunar eclipse in the sign of Sagittarius. Eclipse season happens every six months, and this period often signifies a powerful time of change and transformation in one’s life. This can be scary for some, as it is not uncommon for one to experience a major life change during this window of time. As this is a major energy shift, I would not be surprised if many have been feeling this energy building up for the last few weeks!
The energy we are working with is one of RELEASE!
And with this eclipse occurring in the expanded and liberating sign of Sagittarius, we are being pushed to address and release any limiting core beliefs that are keeping us “stuck” or blocking us from progressing in our goals (especially related to personal freedom). This could manifest as the ending of a job, home, or relationship you’ve outgrown. Though this can be painful, endings and completions of cycles always bring about new beginnings and new opportunities!
How to work with this eclipse energy: A primary component of what can come up during an eclipse season is a feeling of powerlessness or loss of control. It can feel frustrating to experience any kind of ending or abrupt change in direction. I encourage you to pay attention to any feelings of resistance that come up for you.
Ask yourself: “Is there anything I need to surrender or let go of that no longer serves me?”
This is an opportunity to not only honor the ending of a chapter but now is the time to explore what you want to create for your next chapter. We will address this in part two when the new moon solar eclipse begins! Happy eclipse season!
